Preschool

The Snoqualmie Valley School District Developmental Preschool is an integrated early childhood experience, serving preschool-aged children of all abilities. The preschool uses Creative Curriculum, a play-based curriculum, to support learning through theme-based play and exploration, in addition to WAKids and TS Gold for ongoing assessment, targeted classroom activities, and developmental guiding standards for Individualized Education Plan goals.

The Developmental Preschool is centrally located at Snoqualmie Elementary School.  Preschool is offered in half-day sessions, Monday-Thursday. Younger students attend the morning session, and older and pre-kindergarten students attend the afternoon session. Classroom sizes vary, generally ranging from approximately 8-16 students. Each classroom is taught by a Washington State certificated teacher credentialed in special education and specializing in early childhood education. Classrooms are also supported by trained paraprofessionals, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and school psychologists.

Children who qualify for special education services attend preschool at no cost to families. Children with typical development attend as peer models through a tuition-based option. This allows children of all abilities to learn alongside one another in an inclusive early learning environment.

Preschool Peers

The preschool program is open to all 3 and 4-year olds who live in the boundaries of the Snoqualmie Valley School District (students should be 3 years old by August 31st of the current school year). The peer program is one component of our Developmental Preschool; our curriculum is built on fostering an environment of inclusion and acceptance with all our kids learning alongside each other. Children do not have to be toilet trained to attend preschool.

During the school year families are responsible for the drop off and pick up of their preschooler. The preschool follows the same calendar as the district, including all breaks. Tuition for our peer program is $285 a month, half days Monday-Thursday. Students are assigned to the morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) session by age, with younger students attending in the morning and pre kindergarten students in the afternoon.
