NEW BUSINESS

·        U’SA Gain (recycling clothes, towels, shoes) Box on Order.  Will be put in the front of the school

·        Shed – Keys, shelves Bill will organize a paint party – Cori will talk to Darrel about building shelves

·        Carbon Footprint for kids Jennifer and Gretchen will create a website for parents and staff to use

·        No Idling Signs are here!  Thank you Geoff.  Cori will contact district about putting up signs.  We will kick off the school year being a “No Idle” school (Fall 2008)

·        Rain Barrel (2 or 4) Jennifer will look into pricing, Cori will talk to Carl about liability

·        Printer Cartridges Jacque will mail out current filled boxes and get more boxes to fill up

·        Composting Kitchen Waste Gretchen will contact Karen about what we can do about composting LARGE amounts.  Talked about wanting to keep what we have so kids can see the process.  Can they really see it?  This is an area we will touch upon another meeting.

·        Wetlands Curriculum Need to talk to Science Focus Group.  How many hours to create curriculum that aligns with GLE’s and how many people interested?

·        Carpooling Bring up carpooling to school with parents in the fall to go with “No Idle”

·        Possible Blog for recycling on website Jennifer and Gretchen will create a website for all to use.  Easier than blogging plus can have a whole lot more info posted

·        Publicity Geoff is our new P.R. man!  Way to step up Geoff!  Thanks!  Geoff will get information about SES to the local newspapers.  Let’s show them all what an awesome team we have here at SES!

 

OLD BUSINESS

Energy conservation

  • Bring in PSE to do an audit of our school Cori looked into this and is in the process of finding out more info
  • Automatic timer on all rooms in building expensive…other alternatives?
  • Window blinds, lights, computer monitors, printers, TV’s, VCR’s Jennifer will send out a reminder to staff about classrooms and also the Computer Lab

·        Monitor energy usage (baseline?) Cori will get info from Carl

Posters

  • Four “R” posters around school?  Jennifer will create posters for next Fall to be put up around school.  Great reminders
  •  Professionally created…nice and neat
